Good Habits to Keep Your Computer Healthy and Virus Free. by Jonathan Waller
To prevent another disastrous virus from infecting your computer you must take some important precautions. The reason you got a virus in the first place was probably a mistake. The best part of being human is making mistakes, this is because we learn from them and they usually never or rarely ever happen again. The following steps will help you from ever getting a virus again and keep your computer healthy forever.
1. Always keep anti virus software up to date. Most software now a days has the ability to update automatically this was created because we are usually too busy to worry about constantly checking if are anti virus programs are up to date. Disabling this setting is not recommended as it is very handy to have running. 2. Another ability most software offers is set scan times. When you install your anti virus software for the first time all you have to do is set a date and time to periodically scan, preferably while your asleep, and your anti virus software will scan without you ever having to think about it again. Most even offer the option of shutting down the computer when they it is done! 3. Keep your operating system updated. Security patches are released regularly to combat hackers who take advantage of vulnerabilities they discover. Just like anti virus software, most operating systems offer automatic updates so you never have to worry about doing it manually. You can turn this setting on in windows by going to control panel and clicking on windows updates. 4. Block unwanted connections using a firewall. On many occasions, hackers can still access your computer even with an anti virus program installed. Firewalls create another hurdle that hackers must pass which greatly reduces the chance of an infection. 5. Getting some sort of Spyware blocker. Spyware is not always detected by virus scanners. If your spyware was installed on your computer by a virus then you remove the virus, the spyware can still remain functional on your computer.
Following these tips should greatly reduce your chances of making another mistake and getting another virus. Preventing bad habits that you used to do can keep your computer in healthy state.
